Thank You, our "Foodie Tribe"!

We offered our first Egg CSA last week with stunning results. SO MANY of you were as excited about our eggs as we are, and though we're thrilled that the CSA sold out in a matter of hours, we're sorry that we can't accommodate everyone... YET! We're in the process of building more coops for the girls (and roos- we can't forget our boys!) who are growing out of the brooders and ready to be introduced to the flock soon. These little ones will be laying within the next 2 months or so, and our available CSA shares should be doubling soon, and tripling by summer! :-) So if you didn't have the chance to try us this month, please don't give up on us yet! We're working hard to expand so that we can serve everyone.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you not just for your patronage, which is always appreciated as it obviously keeps our farm going, but for the comrade and sense of community that I feel so deeply when I share something near and dear to me, and am responded to so emphatically and embraced so beautifully in return. It feels as though I have found my 'tribe' of fellow foodies- those of us who value quality over quickness, and appreciate thoughtful food.

When we share our eggs with you, our customers, we're not just sharing eggs: we're sharing the last year of dedicated care of our beautiful hens, whom we love so dearly. We're sharing a knowledge base that we've built up solely for the purpose of keeping our girls as healthy as possible, so that they may live long and healthy lives. We're sharing an ethical value that animals deserve respectful treatment and the ability to live in the most natural ways possible, while still getting a little help from us to stay protected from predators and given complete nutritional care on top of their free foraging. We're sharing a beautiful synergy of purpose and a basic desire to keep things as natural as possible.

"When We Were Young" - our girls (and Roomeo) last Spring... ah, to be young again.

Ultimately, what I'm saying is thank you for reminding us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by so many people who share in our excitement over the same things in life, no matter how 'small' those things may seem. We can't wait to share our eggs with you! :-D
